I am very sad to hear of the passing Wu Zheng-Yi. He has been a friend and valued colleague ever since I first met him in 1978. He had a long and productive life and has done so much for botany in China as well as for collaboration between botanists in China and foreign countries. Although he will not have seen the final volume of the Flora of China published, he would likely have known that it was sent to the printer and of the conference and celebration to commemorate the completion of the project that is to be held this September in Beijing. I hope he was justly proud to have played such an important role in getting this important project finished as he no doubt would have been proud of all the other major botanical project in which he was involved over his long and productive career.
Please extend my friendship and sympathy to Professor Wu's wife and all my friend at KIB.
