It was with deepest sorrow to receive the sad news that Professor C-Y Wu left us.  

The botanical world has lost a giant and a genius.  

Professor Wu had such an incredible career as a most amazing scientist, a remarkable administrator, an educator with so many accomplished successful students, 

a well-respected statesman, and a strong advocate for Asian botany.  

He inspired generations of plant biologists on plant diversity in China, floristics, biogeography, taxonomy, and plant evolution in general!  

I know it must be an extremely difficult time for Professor Duan, Professor Wu's other family members and his colleagues and students in KIB.  

Please pass my deep condolences to Mrs. Wu and the rest of the family, to you and other students of Professor Wu, and the colleagues at KIB for such a loss!
