I am deeply saddened to hear this news. Prof. Wu's knowledge in the Chinese plants and phytogeography is incomparable. His contributions to the understanding of plant biodiversity in eastern Asia is invaluable. It is fortunate that he has trained many excellent students to continue his life-time research which is now flourishing at the Kunming Institute.
